Blaine Sato - known and loved as simply Sumo - was an icon within the surfing community and as an ambassador for Cobian, an embodiment of our brand mission to make Every Step Matter. From the islands of Hawaii to Huntington Beach, CA, Sumos heart was to be a messenger of aloha to all that he met. From pro-surfers to the homeless, Sumos legacy lives on in the many lives he touched throughout the years.

Even in the midst of battling cancer, Sumos joy and desire to serve others continued to only increase. His message was clear as he cemented the words, Trust God, next to his world-famous shaka into the ground during his 2016 induction into the Surfers Hall of Fame.
